Services for Mattie Wilson,78, formerly of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough St., Lufkin, TX. Burial will be in the Davis Memorial Garden. Mrs. Wilson was born July 7, 1943, in Timpson, TX., and died February 23, 2022, in Annapolis, Maryland.
Ms. Mattie Wilson was born July 7, 1943, in Timpson, Texas to the late Holland and Mattie Lee (Davis)
Thompson. Ms. Wilson worked as a Supervisor of supply and logistics at Lufkin Industries, in Lufkin, TX. She was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed serving on the usher board. When she wasn't working or serving in the community, she enjoyed spending time with her sons, Frederick and Cedric. Spending time supporting her sons at sports events, hugging-her grandchildren, laughing with her friends, and loving on her family, were some of the few highlights during her time in Lufkin. Ms. Wilson traveled the world and moved to places such as Colorado, Germany, Illinois, California, and Maryland. She also enjoyed watching sports (especially her San Antonio Spurs), reading, crossword puzzles, watching soap operas, going to church, wearing fabulous hats, and more. Ms. Mattie Wilson was preceded in death by her parents Holland and Mattie Lee (Davis) Thompson, Siblings: Mattie Faye Thompson Smith, Margie Nell Yarbrough, and Howard
Daniels. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Frederick Wilson, and Cedric Wilson
(Lakeisha). Grandchildren- Kanetra Thorton, Frederick Jones, Latoya Wilson, Latrayvion Wilson, Jazmine Dixon, Tish Wilson, Cedrinique Wilson, Ja'Vonte Wilson, Keith "KJ" Cole, Jadarus Wilson, and Jalan Wilson.
A host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
