Mildred Earnestine Amie's Obituary
Services for Mildred E. Amie, 97, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough St., Lufkin, Tx. Rev. W.R. Ricks will officiate.
The eulogist will be Irma Amie-Brown. Burial will be in the Davis Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Amie was born August 7, 1918 in Pennington, Tx. and died August 25, 2014 in Lufkin.
Sister Mildred Earnestine Amie was one of twelve children born to Isaac and Texana Berry. All of her siblings preceded her in death. She Married Cleveland Amie March 10, 1940. They enjoyed 50 years and six months together before the Lord called Brother Amie to live with him in 1990. Her son Johnny Amie went to live with the Lord in 2008.
Sister Amie united with First Missionary Baptist Church in 1952. During the early years in the church she served as an Usher, Sunday School teacher, worked in Vacation Bible School as well as a member of the Willing Workers Circle. As a member of and leader of the Willing Workers Circle, Sister Amie encouraged the members of this circle to provide a forum that would give the members of the church an opportunity to fellowship with each other in a relaxed setting. One such activity is the annual county breakfast which is held the second Sunday in December.
Sister Amie's health prevented her from attending and participating in many of the church's activities , however she continued to attend services as often as possible.
She leaves to cherish wonderful memories one daughter, Irma Amie Brown, Nacogdoches, TX.,
three sons Grover Amie and Travis Amie, Lufkin, TX., Ernest Amie, Houston, TX. Thirteen grandchildren , twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Three daughter-in-laws,Bernita Amie, Amelone Amie and Hester Amie, one son-in-law, Wilbert Brown, three sister-in-laws, Maud Ester Amie, Naomi Berry, Barbara Berry, one special newpew, Baker Berry and a host of other relatives and friends,
