Ola Marjorie McGee's Obituary
Services for Ola Marjorie McGee, 96, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough St., Lufkin, TX. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. till time of services at the church.
Ola McGee was born on June 2, 1922 to parents Solomon Riley and Julie Avant inTrinity County. She attended Dunbar High School with a love for playing basketball and graduated in 1940. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined First Missionary Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member where she served faithfully. She was a Mother of the Church, an active Member of Eastern Star & Mary Circle until her decline n health and later moved to Houston.
Ola was united in holy Matrimony to James McGee in 1943. This union was blessed with four children. James McGee proceeded her in death in 1984. She was later employed at Garrett Elementary School and as a Domestic Home Worker. She was preceded in death, her daughter Marjorie McGee-Mitchell (1996), her sister Espanola Brinkley and her brother Johnnie Alexander.
She was very active, energetic, loved to work in her garden, compassionate, loved to cook and cater. Because of her generosity sprit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Friday, October 5, 2018 at Afton Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Houston, TX.

Her grandchildren: Dartagnan and Jeremy (Jeanette") McGee, Chandra Brown Ledet (Shawn) and Damian (Tawanna) and Davin (Chante) Mitchell
Eleven great grandchildren and host of friends.
