Services for Onita Stewart, 73 of Lufkin is scheduled 11 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Diboll Cemetery. Mrs. Stewart was born on October 9, 1949, in Joaquin, and died on Monday, September 18, 2023, in Lufkin
.Onita Stewart was born on October 9, 1949 to the parentage of Margie Perry and Johnny Green in Shelby County, Texas. On September 18, 2023, Onita Stewart made her transition from her earthly home to her eternal home.
To her family and friends, she was affectionately known and called "Nita." Throughout her life she attended Joaquin Central Elementary School until the school was closed, then later she attended C.H. Daniel High School in Center, Texas. Nita loved to dress up. She would put on her white tennis shoes and socks, and she was off to Mr. Jack's Barbeque Place. Once she was there, she would eat, drink, and dance which she loved to do. She even tried to play softball. Nita was raised in Joaquin, Texas, and later relocated to Diboll, Texas, where she met the love of her life, the late Henry Stewart (Ninety). To this union a beautiful daughter was born, Sandra Stewart. She had been employed by Plus Tx Chicken Poultry until she retired. Nita would laugh, and if you listened you could hear her loud and clear. The Tibbs Family Reunion was one of the highlights of her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Onita is preceded in death by: Her mother, Margie Perry; Father, Johnny Green; Husband, Henry Stewart; Sisters, Rosie Perry Preston and Vienna Perry.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters, Sandra and Veronica Stewart of Diboll, Texas; Brother, James Brown (Tatiana) of Humble, Texas; A wealth of other extended family members; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
