Oscar "Nancy" Jordan's Obituary
Services for Oscar V.(Kennedy) Jordan, 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough, Lufkin, TX. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m at Colonial Mortuary.
Ms. Oscar Vernell Kennedy Jordan (affectionately known as Nancy) was born December 24, 1942 to Oscar Kennedy and Vernice Stewart-Kennedy in Lufkin, TX. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of New Zion Baptist Church. Vernell sang jn the choir and loved to participate in different BTU programs.
Vernell graduated from Dunbar High School in 1961. She played the clarinet and was a Majorette in the Dunbar High School Band among other activities. She represented her class as the homecoming queen. Vernell was also the first Miss Splash Day when the pool opened at Jones Park. She was also a debutante. She attended Texas Southern University in Houston.
Ms. Jordan was formerly employed by LaNita Dress Shop and AGAA Insurance Company in Lufkin. After moving to San Francisco, California she was employed by American Star Insurance Company. After relocating to her hometown she was employed by Bealls Department Store.
She was an avid Lufkin Panther fan and was active in the Lufkin Sideliner's and Mother's Club. She loved getting the team lockers decorated. Ms. Jordan Joved reading the morning papers, sending cards for every occasion, custom shirts and was proud to be 49er faithful in Cowboy country.
On Monday September 3, 2018, Oscar Vernell Kennedy Jordan departed this earthly life in Lufkin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Vernice Kennedy and Grandparents Johnny & Viola Stewart, and Clyde & Leola Kennedy.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories a Daughter: Demetra Morales of Tracy,California, Son: Oscar Kennedy Jordan of San Francisco, California. Sister's: Miriam (Howard)Coleman, Betell (Rex) Benham, Willette (Roy) Dubose, Valencia Kennedy, Bettie (Anthony)
Watts, and Angela Moreland. Brother's: Dwayne (Myrtle) Kennedy, Kermit A. Kennedy, and Keith C. (Lisa) Kennedy. Also left to cherish her memory are Grandchildren: Niema Jordan,
Jazmena Bannag, Alejhandro Malik Jordan, Jordan Martinez, Adriana Jordan, Joshua Vides. Aunts: Emma Purvis and Bobbie Kennedy Duffield. A wealth of niecest nephews, cousins and other relatives and dear friends.
