Patricia Ann Austin's Obituary
Funeral service for Mrs. Patricia Austin 74 will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation from 1:00 p.m. till time of services on Saturday. Mrs. Austin died January 23, 2024, in League City, TX.
Patricia Ann Austin, was born on October 6, 1949 in San Augustine, Texas. She was the eighth of ten children of Green E. and Mattie B. Ruth.
She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and became a member of China Chapel Baptist Church, in San Augustine, Texas. She sang in the choir, played the piano, and taught piano lessons to the youth.
Patricia spent some of her earlier years in Houston, Texas, where she worked for the Harris County Sheriff's Office. She later moved to Lufkin, and worked at Angelina Nursing Home and Memorial Hospital. Patricia also did some Home Care and Sitting for numerous elders as well. She always had a special place in her heart for caring for the elderly. Patricia worked with the Texas Foster Grandparent Program for Dunbar Primary School up until her passing. Those who knew her didn't call her Patricia, they always called her Ms. Pat Pat or Tricia Ann. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and loved having a good time. She loved to sing and cook dinner for her family and friends. She definitely loved spending a great deal of her time with her second family at the Bingo Hall. Playing bingo was her favorite past time.
Patricia is preceded in death by: Her father and mother, Green E. and Mattie B. Ruth; Daughter and son, Cassandra Yvette Ruth and Olanda Cepeda (Chief) Ruth; Sisters, Wilma Bryant and Mattie Louise Ruth; Brothers, Alton Ruth and Claude Ruth Sr.; Brothers-in-law, Horace Bryant, Joe Billy Hollis and Willie Davis.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Her sons, Mac Arthur Johnson, Jr. (Ishanti) and Corey De' Juan Austin (Wilma); Sisters and brothers, Elma Woods (Eddie), Mary Davis, Sally Hollis, Carolyn Davis (Herman) and James Ruth; Grandchildren, Tenisha, JaMarcus, Stevante, Alexandria, Aquantis, Javante, Ja'Corian, Amani, MacKayla, Elani, MacKenzie, Mykel and Mac Arthur Johnson Ill; Fifteen Great-grandchildren; A host of nieces, nephews and friends.
