Princella Hughes' Obituary
Services for Princella Hughes will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Impact Outreach Ministries, 440 FM 2021, Lufkin, TX. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00p.m. at Colonial Mortuary. Burial will be in the Sweet Union Cemetery.Mrs. Princella Forney Hughes, was born to the parentage of the late Arthur Forney and Dessie Thompson Forney, October 13, 1928. She was one of twelve children born to this union.
She attended the Nacogdoches School District and was a graduate of E. J. Campbell in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in the community in which she resided. She met and was married to the late Rev. Curtis Hughes. To that union three sons were born. She also came into this union with one daughter.
Three daughters were already a part of Rev. Hughes family making the number of seven children. Princella began working after the demise of her husband Rev. Hughes. She had been employed by the Sessions and the Richardson families in Wells, Texas. She also worked for Ms. Nina Ruby of Pollok, Texas. Later she was employed by the Lufkin State School. She was a loving and caring individual and was promoted on her job through the years. She had been supervisor at the home she worked and retired from the Lufkin State School where she received several awards fo her service. She was very active as a member of the Sweet Union Baptist Church She served under the leadership of the late J.T. Hart (Pastor), and the late Pastor Henry Evans. Princella was a Sunday School Teacher, Secretary/Treasurer, Choir President and she also served in the Mission and also on the Sweet Union Development Corp. Princella would visit the sick and shut in's in the Community, Nursing Homes and where ever she was needed. She trusted God, was faithful and loved people. She taught her family well, led by example. Princella would often quote scriptures while talking to us. One was Proverbs 3:6 and Acts 17:28. She was a strong woman of God. One of her favorite sayings: "If you do what the Lord tell you to do you will be going in the right direction."

Hughes (Pat) of Beaumont, Paul Hughes (Flora) of Lufkin and Jerome Hughes (Vera) of Houston; Brother-in-law, Wifford Hughes ofWells; Two sisters, Margie Douglas and Lena White of Houston; Sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; A wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friens.
Princell was preceded in death by: her husband Rev. Curtis Hughes; Parents, Arthur and Dessie Forney; Five brothers, Carl, Delton, Roosevelt, R.Q., and Jeffrey Forney; Four sisters, Lucille, Dorothy, Leona and Ruth; A stepdaughter, JWie.
