R V Horace's Obituary
The Funeral services for R.V. Horace 89 of Lufkin will be held at 2PM, Saturday, July 5,2025, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Ms. Horace was born on December 29, 1936 in Newton,and died on June 29, 2025, in Lufkin, Texas.
Mother RV (Armstrong) Horace was born December 29, 1936 to the Union of Coella Armstrong and Archie Armstrong in Call Texas. Mrs. Horace was the sister to 7 sibllings 6 Sisters and 1 brother.
Mrs.Horace moved to Lufkin Texas at and early age where she United with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully in minister in the Choir and Mission, she later
united with Bethesda Mission Baptist Church under the Leadership of Pastor Leonard White and later under the Leadership of Pastor Derrick White (Whom she loved dearly), she served in Mission,Choir Ministery and one of the Elder Mother's of the Church until her death. Mother Horace enjoyed Bible Study learning about the goodness of God.
Mother Horace always had a great joy for singing. In her early years she was a member of the Silvertones and many other Mass Choirs throughout the years. Prior to her failing health she was a
member of The Lufkin Interdenominational Chior.
Mother Horace never met a stranger, if you where when you met here by the end of your encounter with her you would be a friend, because she was going to find out who you are and
who are your people and where are they are from and leave you with a word of advice. She also had a great love for her Children and the many Grandchildren, Greatgrands and
Great Great Grandchildren and family and friends. In her final years she enjoyed traveling to Dallas, Texas with her son (Chris) to speend time with her daughters and grandchildren
Mother Horace worked at Mabel Melear School for many years and later employed at Lufkin Inderstries where she retired.
After retiring Mrs.Horace persued her heart felt ministery taking care of the elders and visting the sick and shut-in and telling them about the goodness of God.
Mother Horace was preceded in death by Her Husband Herman Horace, Mother Coella Hafford and Farther Archie Armstrong, (1) Son Leonard Carl Wortham (5) Sisters Ida Darcine Norman, Macy L Murphy, Hazel R. Hamilton, Oliva Hamilton and Archie Smith, (1) Brother Robert Harold
(1) Granddaughter and (1) Grandson, (2) Great Granddaughters, (1) Great grandson
Mrs. Horace leaves to cherish her percious momory:(1)Sister Geraldine Conley (4) Dughters Jewel Williams, Diane Sturgis who cared for her with love and paitentes in her final years, Sherry Johnson,
and Shirley Bell (3) Sons Winston Wortham, Christopher Wortham, and Robert Wortham (17) Grandchildren (9) Greatgrand Childrens and (20) Great-Great Grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
