Ronald "Big Pill" Ayres' Obituary
Graveside services for Ronald Ayers," Big Pill" ,58, of Lufkin will be held Saturday May 16, 2020 at 12:00 noon in the Davis Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is Friday from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary. Mr. Ayres was born November 22, 1961 in Lufkin.
Ronald O'Neil Ayres as born on November 22, 1961 in Lufkin, Texas to the parentage Pf Freddie Ayres and the late Barbara Grady Ayres.
Ronald O'Neil Ayres attended Lufkin Public School and graduated from Lufkin High School with the Class of 1980. He was active in the church growing up at Church ofThe Living God PGT. He is presently a member of Goodwill Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lyons. After graduating in 1980, he attended Angelina College on an Art Scholarship. Ronald was also a member ofthe Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Group. He later married Steffanie Ayers Myers, and to this union were born two children. Ronald was employed on several jobs until he found his calling in Corrections. In 1985, he became a Correctional Officer at the Eastham Unit in Lovelady, Texas. He later pursued a career at the Angelina County Jail as a Jailor in Lufkin, Texas for five years, His final destination in Corrections was at Diboll Corrections in Diboll, Texas. Ron spent his life being loyal and dedicated to his family and had a deep rooted love for six of his grandchildren, as well as for friends and his community. He had a way touching the lives of everyone he met and he never met a stranger. He brought "Plen of joy, laughter and jokes to his family and friends. Ronald loyed to sing and was blessed with a unique voice, A voice that will be missed tremendously. The impact Of Ronald's life was as a loving father, grandfather and friend.
On May 4, 2020, Ronald,"Big Pill" Ayres, departed this life in Lufkin, Texas.
Survivors: Father, Freddie Ayres; Daughter, Ashley Nicole Ayres; Son, Ashford O'Neil Ayres (Latawnya); Godson, Jeremy "Black" Moore; Brothers, Strafford Grady (Cedric Hunt), Calvin Ayres (Susan), Baron Ayres, Cedric Duirden, Calvin Harrison, Jamie Wortham; Sisters, Janice Richards Lamb, Rhonda Oliphant, Donna Rose, Mia Gauthier and a few others; His loving grandchildren, Je Darius Ayres, Bryant Mykell Yearling, Elisha Ayres, Adam Ayres, Aukelah Ayres and Reighan Alexis Ayres; wealth ofother relatives and friends; Special friends, Wade Brooks, Shannon Lowe and Vicente Smit\v Friend and Provider: Anita Darks.
Ronald was preceded in death by, his mother, Barbara Ayres; Grandmother, Leona Brown and his younger brother, Kendall Wade Ayres; Uncle, Vernon Lee Edwards.
