Elder Sam V. Adams' Obituary
Services for Sam V. Adams, 75, of Huntington will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Huntington First Baptist Church, 702 N. Main St., Huntington, Tx. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens.Elder Sam Vinson Adams, was born to the parentage of William B. and Clara Adams on June 27, 1943 in Bassfield, Mississippi.
He received his formal education from the Bassfield, Mississippi Independent School District. After graduation, Sam entered the United States Air Force where he served from 1962 to 1964.
He was happily married to Mary Ann Bagley on May 21, 1982 in Luflcin, Texas. The marriage lasted until his demise. Sam had been employed by Lufkin Industries for over thirty years. He was a member of James Chapel in Huntington, Texas, for several years before becoming the pastor of the Huntington Church of the Living God, for twenty seven years. He was also a member of the Ministers Alliance. Elder Sam shared his ministry on Monday mornings with Larkspur Nursing Facility in Luftin, Texas. He loved spending his time reading his favorite book, The Holy Bible and was an avid fisherman.
On November 15, 2018, earthly life came to a close for Elder Sam Vinson Adams.
His survivors include: His wife of 30 years, Mary Ann Adams of Huntington, Texas; His daughter, Bobbie Wilson (Thomas) of Picayune, Mississippi; A goddaughter, Temeka Denning of Lufkin, Texas; Six grandchildren, Quinten, Britney, Whitney, Gloria, D'Shannon and Kendall; His father, William B . Adams; A brother, William (Vickie)
Adams of Phoenix Arizona; Nine sisters, Eldress Wilean (Charles) Yarbrough, Janice (Hamp) Richardson, Evangelist Lillian Johnson, Denise (Marcus) Fowler, Anna Adams, Debbie (Ray) Blackshire, Gloria (Keith) Hamlin all of Lufkin, Shirley Hadnot of Jasper, Texas Annie (Charles) Robertson ofHuntington, Texas; Sister-in-law, Lavonne McFarland (Lloyd) of Lufkin, Texas; Brothers-in-law, Johnathan Bagley (Brinda), Fredrick (Norma) Bagley, Irish (Deckie) Bagley.
Elder Sam Vinson Adams is preceded in death by his mother, Clara Adams; His mother of love, Bertha Lee; Sisters, Benice Applewhite, Shirley Ann Adams, Mary Marie Adams; Brother, Johnny Adams; Daughter, Carla Dixon and a son, Chris Preston.
And, I will give them to know me, that I am the Lord and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. For, they shall return unto me with their whole heart.
