Service for Ms. Shirley B. Lewis, 76 of Lufkin is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1519 Williams Street, Lufkin. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden. Ms. Lewis was born on December 11, 1946, in Lufkin, and died on Monday, 28,2023 in Lufkin. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. in at The Greater Shiloh Baptist Church.
Shirley Lewis a beloved wife, mother, military spouse, and cherished member of the community, passed away on August 28, 2023. With a heart full of love and a spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her. Shirley leaves behind a legacy that will forever be treasured.
Born on December 11, 1946, Shirley embraced life with an unwavering devotion to her family and a passion for bringing people together through food and fellowship. Throughout her 26-year marriage, she stood as a pillar of strength, nurturing her two children with boundless care and love. Shirley's culinary talents above shone brightly as she navigated the world of food service and private catering events. Her culinary creations were more than just meals, they were expressions of her warmth and hospitality.
Her skills brought joy to countless gatherings, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. An active member of the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Shirley served as an usher, greeting fellow worshipers with a welcoming smile that reflected her deep-rooted faith. Her acceptance of Jesus as her Savior early in life, guided her actions and radiated in her interactions with others. Shirley's presence illuminated every room she entered, infusing gatherings with a positivity that was truly infectious. Her love for spending time with family and friends was evident in every moment shared, and her energy became the life of every celebration. Shirley Lewis's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by: A son, Brian Lewis, Daughters-in-law, Mary Lewis and Vicki Lewis Mills, Her grandsons, Isaiah Lewis, Nolan Lewis and Miles Lewis, Chad Lewis, Markcus Lewis, Shawn Lewis and Michael Kakua. A grand-daughter, Zena Lewis; Sister and brother-in-law, Lucy Gamble and Robert Gamble; A wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
Shirley is preceded in death by: A son, Markus Lewis and granddaughter, Cameron Kakua, Husband, Samuel Lewis.
