Mrs. Wheeler was born March 27, 1948, in Groveton, and died on Sunday, February 19, 2023, in Houston. Stella Louise Ford Wheeler was born to Zular and Webster Doggett on March 27, 1948 in Groveton, Texas and completed her earthly journey on February 19, 2023 in Houston Texas surrounded by family and close friends.
Stella attended Dunbar High and began her career at the age of 18 at Memorial Medical of East Texas as a cook in the kitchen. She attended Angelina College to further her education and become a unit secretary. Stella retired as a staffing coordinator after 45 years of service to Chi St. Luke's Health Memorial.
At an early age Stella became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Kelty's, Texas where she remained a member until her departure. She sang in the Senior Choir, worked on the usher board, was a devoted member of the women's mission, and served faithfully on the committee for the church dedication. She was always willing to contribute in any way to uplift the kingdom of God.
One of her strongest Christian attributes was that she was an encourager to others. In spite of the personal challenges she faced, she continued to encourage others through praying, sending daily inspirations and providing counsel to younger women in their relationships. Stella also maintained contact with individuals when they were sick and shut in. Any and everybody's children became her children as well. She provided daily encouragement to help uplift and pray for others through their most difficult times. She stayed on her Christian journey by letting her light shine through and allowing others to see God's grace through her.
Stella was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and LaLa to everyone who knew her.
Stella and Roy were united in marriage in 1967 in Lewisville, Arkansas. They were blessed in their union with 3 children.
