The funeral services for Sylvia Kirkwood,65, of Lufkin, will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11 a.m., at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1519 Williams St, of Lufkin. Ms. Kirkwood was born on July 6, 1959, and died on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in Lufkin. The cremation service is under the direction of Colonial Mortuary.
Ms. Sylvia was born July 6, 1959, in Lufkin, TX to the late Eva Lois Kirksey and David Brown,
Sylvia was born and raised in Lufkin, TX where she attended Lufkin High School. She was
a part of the graduate class of 1977. She accepted Christ as a child and was a member of the First
Missionary Baptist Church, then later became a New Beginnings Baptist Church member. She loved to praise God!
On February 16th, 1996, she married the love of her life, Eddie Lee Kirkwood Jr. Sylvia enjoyed cooking! She worked as a cook at Boles Food Market for many years until they closed, then joined Lufkin ISD. She loved life, her children, and her grandchildren. She was the life of the party everywhere she went!
On February 25, 2025, Sylvia Elaine Kirkwood transitioned from her earthly home to heavenly
residence.

Daughters: LaGuesna Rhodes and Alexis Rhodes. Grandchildren: Zamarion Johnson, Ze’Trevion “Tre” Odom, A’Morea Hicks. Stepdaughters: Loretta Birdow and Vickie Brown. Sisters: Sharon Sparks-Rhodes, Pamela Rhodes, Gwendolyn Moses, Janice Doggett, Shelia Wilson, Evon Brown. Sister-in-law: Sylvia Kirkwood-Johnson. Brothers: Darryl Sparks, Delton Roberts, Charles Proctor Sr. Robert Proctor (Joan), Hiawatha Brown, Billy Ray Brown (Mona). Aunts: Goldie Gregory, Ruth Price. Uncle: Bobby Sparks. Special cousin: Bernell Gregory Sr. (Ben Dan). Favorite girl: Telkia Nicole Deason “Keke”.
