Thomas G. Davis' Obituary
Services for Thomas G. Davis, 75, of Lufkin will be held Friday, July 19,2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday from 9:00 till time of services at Colonial Mortuary.
Mr. Davis was born December 17, 1943 in Lufkin and died July 15, 2019 in Lufkin.Thomas Guinn Davis, was born to the parentage of the late Ozell Hood Davis and Willie Ayers Davis in Lufkin, Texas, on December 17, 1943.
Thomas was a graduate of Dunbar High School, Lufkin, Texas, Class of 1961. During his High School years, he was a member of the Dunbar Tigers Band where he played the trumpet. Upon graduating from high school, Thomas entered into the United States Army on December 1 1, 1962, separating on June 10, 1966 with an Honorable Discharge. After separating from the military, he returned home to Lufkin, Texas and began working in the family business at Colonial Mortuary. He had a great work ethic and had been employed at various facilities. His last employment was with the Diboll Prison in the Security Department. His livelihood consisted of his love of whatever music was in style at the time, and he was a fashionable dresser who believed in being well at all times, no matter what the occasion. He also often bragged about the many places he had a chance to travel during his stay in the Army, especially Korea.
Thomas as of Methodist faith though he attended the Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church regularly before his health declined.
Survivors: Children: Michael and T.J.; One grandchild; His siblings:
Sisters, Willie Marie Meals, Marilyn J. Banks (Tinkie); Brothers, Ronald Davis and Donald Davis; A wealth of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family.
Preceded in death by: His parents, Ozell Hood Davis and Willie Ayers Davis; A sister, Annie L. Davis and a niece, Alvinia Marie Meals-Henry.
