Services for Tommy Ray Johnson, 65, of Lufkin of Lufkin will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Long Chapel C.M.E. Church, 514 Lining St., Lufkin, Tx. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Lufkin. Mr. Johnson was born September 6, 1953 in Lufkin, TX. and died November 23, 2018 in Lufkin.Tommy Ray Johnson, known to many as "Fly," second born son of the late Jessie and Loretta Johnson. Born September 6, 1953, in Lufkin, Texas. Baptized at an early age as a member of Long Chapel CME Church, a Boy Scout, and a student. Tommy attended Dunbar High School with the Class of 1972. Marrying at an early age to Ann Freeman, the love of his young life, to this union a son was born, Jerome Johnson. Tommys life took on a direction of flamboyance of style and independence. He spoke his mind and if you knew him you knew he had a way of making his point and leave you thinking about it.
He went on a journey across this great nation as far as Seattle,
Washington. Many would say no big deal, but he did it hitch hiking. Even though he was absent he loved his family, he loved his music, the Houston Oilers and the Dallas Cowboys. Always a sharp dresser, but with a style of his own, he loved to "coordinate." Fearlessly independent, he made his way back and forth across Lufkin, those that knew him would offer a ride to where ever he was going. Sometimes he would accept, but as some could tell you, he would decline, with an abrupt reason why*** We are going to miss you Bro.
Tommy will live on in the memories of a loving family; Son, Jerome Johnson; Granddaughters, Britney, Briana, Tashavay, Honesty,
Jerome Jr., and Jaivion. Great-grandson, Zakai and Cornelius.; Sisters and brothers, Jessica Johnson, Jesse (Butch) (Cheryl) Johnson, Andre Johnson, Michael (Tameria) Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Baron (Vanessa) Johnson, Roderick (Latisha) Johnson and Shawn Johnson (deceased). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grand and great.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Loretta and Jessie Johnson; Stepmother, Lucy Johnson and brother, Shawn Johnson.
