Verna Hamilton's Obituary
Services for Verna Hamilton, 73, of Diboll will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 12:00 noon in the Faith Family Church, 7020 Hwy 59 South. Burial will follow in the Forest Haven Cemetery in Diboll. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Mortuary. Mrs. Hamilton was born May 23, 1945 in TrinityMrs. Verna Lee Hamilton Williams was born May 23, 1945 in Trinity, Texas to her parents Mr. L.V. and Mrs. Marie Hamilton. Verna was the youngest of five children born to his loving parents. Verna inherited the childhood nickname ”Pookie” and to this day is referred to by this name. She was a respectful daughter and enjoyed sharing time with her siblings Billy Joe, Lois, Donald Ray and Charles as a playmates. Verna was always extremely Close to her family and from her early childhood she shared cherished memories. During her adolescent years Verna was embraced by the Watts family of Diboll where she stayed all of her adolescent and adult life. While under the loving arms of beloved Mr. S.W. ”Son” and Era Watts, she was cherished and always considered one oftheir children. Verna gained three new sisters Doris Delco, Margie Harrell and Ester Hunt. This extended family loved one another and supported each other for life. Education was important to the Watts family as an adolescent Verna attended Diboll Elementary and she graduated from Diboll High School. Verna attended Prairie View University for four years studying education. Upon studying in college she later worked and acquired various certifications in her work with children. After college Verna began her career at the Katherine Sage Temple Daycare and later began working for Diboll ISD for several years. Verna was most proud to become established in her hometown as she continued her career with Diboll ISD for many years in the Literacy program. As a Young adult Verna gave birth to her greatest love Dettrick Hamilton and they impressed the community with her love to dress her little son. Verna was devoted to giving her only son her very best and was very proud of him. Later in life Verna married her sweetheart ”Brown” James Williams and their love was beautiful. Brown devoted his life to the care of Verna and enjoyed taking her around East Texas to shop. The two defined love in the way they supported each other in sickness and in health. Verna enjoyed traveling to see she sister in California, spending time with Brown and her grandchildren. Verna Will be greatly missed by all Who knew and loved her.
Verna was precedes in the death of her father, mother, brother Charles, sister Doris Delco, niece Taffy Hamilton and brother in law Otho J. Barry.
