Wanda Warren's Obituary
The funeral service for Wanda Warren, 85, of Lufkin, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at New Life Church of Lufkin, 4707 Farm to Market Rd 843, in Lufkin. Burial will follow in the Davis Memorial Garden.
.Wanda Edwards Warren born 5/28/1939 to the late Elzie Edwards and Leavie Holman Edwards in San Augustine Texas. Wanda attended Vernon County Line Grade School in the Boykin Settlement. After graduating, she attended Beauty College in Beaumont, Texas. After pursuing her dream, she resided in Kountze, Texas for 20 + years.
At an early age she joined Rockwall Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend 0. Gibson. After relocating to Kountze, Texas she was a member of Green Pine Baptist Church. Several years later she moved to Lufkin, Texas where she served on the usher board. She later united with New Life Church (formally church of the Living God on Culverhouse) under the leadership of Pastor Earl Whitaker. During her time, she served as the head Culinary Cook, Benevolence Committee, The Mother's Board, Healthcare Service and Choir Member She was also a faithful Sunday School attendant. SHE LOVED HER SUNDAY SCHOOL!
After relocating to Lufkin Texas In 1976. She worked over 20 years at Memorial Hospital as a housekeeping supervisor, where she touched hearts of everyone she met. After retiring, she worked short term for Jordans Home Health to care for others.
For those who knew her, she was a woman with a strong voice, passion, and ambition who loved family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elzie and Leavie Edwards. Brothers Leroy Edwards, Lemar Edwards, Elzie Edwards Jr., Willie Edwards, Lovell Edwards Sr., and Elroy Edwards and husband Elvin Warren.
Loving Survivors: Daughter Sabrina Warren Johnson (Johnny). Sisters: Gladys Matthews(Carl) and Georgia Betts. Grandchildren: Johnneisha Jackson (Raphelp), JshonTré Johnson (Brittaney) and JohLea Johnson. Great Grandchildren: Je'Maria Banks and A'marien Johnson.
Although a mother of one, Wanda also had a direct hand in raising Terry Warren, Linda Christie and Leasie Haynes.
Step Children: Terry Warren (Jo) of Dallas, Texas. Lynnwood E Warren, Carl Warren, Rodney Cole of Kountze, Texas. Michael G Coffey (Caroline) and John A Robinson (Nannette) of Beaumont, Texas. Elvin Warren Jr. Oakland, California. Daughters: Linda Christie and Sue Coffey and Quashana Warren of Kountze, Texas, Leasie Warren of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Special Nephew: Glenn Matthews, Sr of Kountze, Texas.
