Weldon Richards Sr's Obituary
Service for Weldon Richards Sr. 83 of Lufkin will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in Kennard.
Weldon Douglas Richards, affectionately called (PO Son), was born on December 9, 1939 in Kennard, Texas to the parentage of Robert and Annie C. Richards.
He became a member of the New hope Baptist church at an early age. Weldon attended the Kennard Independent School District. He later became a United States Army Veteran relocating to Houston, Texas, where he became employed by and retired from the City of Houston. Weldon enjoyed playing dominoes and slow riding (Pistol) through town checking on his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
On June 13, 2023, Weldon departed this life at his residence in Lufkin, Texas.
Left to cherish His memories: His children, Weldon D. Richards, Jr. (Carla), Darrick D. Richards (Jalane), Melissa M. Richards-Harris (Maurice), Rayven Richards (Brandi), Douglas Ray Richards and Brenda Moffett (Andre); Sisters, Archie Thomas, Pastor Josephine Johnson, Annie Jones and Vera Twine.
He is preceded in death by: Parents, Robert and Annie C. Richards; Children, Anita Hall-Richards, Delois Hall-Richards, Steven Richards; Grandchildren, Terrence Horn, Doniel Horn, Jr. (Lil Honey); Brothers, Frank Richards, Jimmy Hopkins, Thaddeus Richards, Sammy Lee Richards (infant); Sisters, Srtie Johnson, Ola Mae Martinez and Robbie Richards.
