William "Wig" Fields' Obituary
Memorial services for William Fields,70, of Lufkin will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021, in the Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Mr. Field was born on July 29, 1950, in Lufkin, and died on Tuesday, April 6,2021, in Lufkin.
Wig was a proud Vietnam Veteran and wore the cap to prove it. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruthie Murphy; Stepfather, Willie Murphy; and Melvin Buck Hicks, Sr.; a brother, Rodney Hicks.
He married the love of his life, Jo Ann Bruton-Fields on July 4, 1994. They shared twenty-six and a half years of wonderful marriage. Although William had no children of his own, he took on the role of a great father to his stepchildren; Sons, Charles (Carla) Dukes, Robert (Tamesha) Dukes; Daughters, Daphne (Alvin) Hawkins and Kimberly Haynes; A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his siblings, Shirley Dixon, Rose (Joseph) McGhee, and Melvin Hicks.
