Willie Gene Poole's Obituary
Homegoing services for Mr. Willie Gene Poole, 75, of Alto Texas, will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023, in Colonial Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sweet Union Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, at Colonial Mortuary.
Willie Gene Poole was born on September 8th, 1949, in a small community called Pardon, Texas, which is located in Navarro County to Harrison Poole, Jr. and Lela Alberta Smith, Poole. Gene is the eldest of nine children. Gene grew up in the Sweet Union community, where attended the Sweet Union Black School. He later graduated from Wells High School in 1968. Early in life, he accepted
Christ as Lord & Savior and became a member of the Sweet Union Baptist Church. He moved to Arizona and lived there for many years. Upon returning home, Gene reunited with the Sweet Union Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Rodney Dolphus, the current pastor.
Gene passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at his home in Sweet Union. He is preceded in death by his father, Harrison Poole, Jr., and his youngest daughter, Zelethia (Zee) Poole.

Carroll (Maryland); two sons, Charles Poole, and Willie LaDon Poole; Four brothers: Minister Don Poole
(Lori), Leroy Poole (Debra), Clarence Poole, and Andrew Poole. Four Sisters: Minister Betty Evans, Missionary Louvenia Hellems (Oney), Lillie Jones, (Lawrence), and Minister Mildred Brown (Willie)
Grandchildren: Raxxton Poole, Ryder Hackney, Deveran Carroll, Kionda Carroll, Aiden, Journey,
Na'Kayln, Jaylen and one Great Grand: Marquette Jones, Jr. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
