.Cremation service for Willis Neal Williams, 96 of Lufkin Willis passed away quietly on August 29, 2025 in Lufkin, Texas.
He was born on October 3, 1928 in Concord, TX. His parents were Sam Williams and Effie
(Peterson) Williams. He had nine siblings, two brothers, Jack and Vertis, plus four sisters, Loveanna, Emma, Dora, and Dessie Mae. There were two other brothers that preceded him in death, Thurman and Elvaughn.
Willis attended and graduated from Concord High School, where he was a star basketball player. He attended Texas College, but did not earn a degree. In the early 50's, he was drafted into the United States Armed Services and served in the Korean War where he was a Staff Sergeant.
In 1953, he married Faylene Williams of Mt. Enterprise, TX. From this union, four children were born: three sons, Kenneth, Karl, and Keith Williams and one daughter, Kristi Williams-Caldwell.
Willis obeyed the Gospel and was baptized into Christ in 1975. He was a faithful member of the Fourth and Grosebeck Church of Christ in Lufkin, TX. He was a great example of a Christian husband and father. He retired from the US Postal Service.
He enjoyed many activities in his spare time, such as yardwork and fixing cars. He was always busy tending to things "around the house" or as he called it, "piddlin"' and did not believe in being idle for too long. He loved spending time with family and extended family Willis was known for his bright smile, laughter, and words of wisdom. His favorite term was "understanding" and felt that it was the greatest word in the dictionary.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Faylene and their eldest son, Kenneth. Willis leaves behind three children: Karl, Keith, and Kristi (Alexander), two granddaughters: Angela and Kamaya, two great grandsons, Malik and Tylik, and three great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Cremation is under the direction of Colonial Mortuary.
