Services for Mr. Winston Thomas, 60, formerly of Hemphill, TX. will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the New Hope Baptist Church, 521 County Rd. 136, San Augustine, TX. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Winston Thomas, 60, of Temple, Texas passed away, at his home on November 20, 2023. Winston was born December 18, 1962 in Hemphill, Texas to Richard Henry Thomas and Dorothy Louise Jenkins Thomas. He was raised in Hemphill. Winston graduated from Hemphill High School Class of 1982. He attended Weber State College where he studied Retail Sales. Winston lived and worked for many years in Utah. His plan was always to return to Texas which he finally did in August of 2022. At the time of his death he was employed at JE Dunn as a transportation specialist. Winston loved to work and loved his job. He especially liked that he had the opportunity to meet new people. Winston was a loving and generous person. He was outgoing and loved to entertain. He liked to cook with an infectious smile and a true love for people. If you knew Winston you know he liked to joke and had a BIG personality. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Winston is survived by his brothers, Richard Charles Thomas, and Wendell Lee Thomas, both of Hemphill; Scotty Dwayne Thomas, of Layton Utah; sisters, Debra Kennedy, Veronica Thomas, and Shelia Thomas, all of Hemphill, Texas, uncles, Charles Thomas and Leroy Thomas, both of Fort Worth, Texas, Bruce Garrett of Silsbee, Texas, E.L. Jenkins of Houston Texas, aunts, Marlena Jackson, of Galveston Texas, Odea ! Jones, Mercy Moody and Luvenia Jones all of San Augustine Texas, Avis Thomas, of Port Arthur, Texas and Evelyn Henson of Hemphill, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Henry Thomas and Dorothy Louise Jenkins Thomas, his paternal grandparents Era Daniels Thomas and L . C. Thomas; and his maternal grandparents, Ennis Jenkins and Lulean Dupree Jenkins. Services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 with officiant, Brother Tommy Brooks. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in San Augustine, Texas under the direction of Colonial Mortuary.
