Steven Sanders
He was my dentist when I was a kid. He and I shared a birthdate and he would always call me his "little birthday buddy". So sad to hear of his passing.

Give me my funeral while I live. Give me my funeral while I live. A poem written by Dallas Pierre. On this day we eulogize the poet, the father, the husband, the Grandfather, the civil activist, the school board member, the newspaper opinion columnist, the dentist. We once asked Dad of all places to settle why Lufkin? He simply replied "because they needed me". In his essence this was Dr. Dallas Pierre always around to assist and volunteer to help his community. I distinctly remember the phone ringing at 2 a.m. either someone with a toothache or someone needing assistance. Dad never failed to answer the call. He was always available anytime of day or night. When issues would come up in the community or the country you could rest assured Dr. Pierre would have an article about it in the Lufkin News not holding back on what he really thought in a way that would even give the opposite side of the argument a pause. The Dentist everyone knew where to find Dr. Pierre morning or night. He was at the office. His door was always open to anyone for advice or consultation. In his little spare time he found time to write a book "
My Son Emmanuel: Savior". a novel depicting a present-day Jesus Christ.
We remember the playdates and movies with Wesley as all parents you were even more impressive as a grandfather.
Dad you are loved and will forever be appreciated and missed. We gave you your funeral while you lived and today we commemorate you and celebrate your life.
Love,
Your family James, Mariette, and Wesley
