I lost touch with Joe many years ago, but he and I joined the Navy together on the buddy plan. We went in different directions after boot camp, and lost touch. We were both pretty wild as youngsters and got a lot of looks from guys who didn't know us, as a white boy and black kid just didn't team up like that back in those days, but he was a special friend. I'm happy to hear that he found the Lord, as have I, and I so look forward to meeting up with him up there in the company of the Lord to catch up on what all transpired in our lives.

Such a wonderful and inspiring man. I had the great pleasure and honor to work with Joe at Kingwood Pines Hospital for ten years. We had so many conversations about life and SPORTS. Always a smile, alway a laugh. I am lucky to have known him in this life and will remember him fondly until the day that I cross over.
