Graveside service for Melvin Ross,67, of Lufkin will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, October 10, 2020, in the Davis Memorial Gardens. Mr. Ross was born on February 11, 1953, in Alto, and died October 4, 2020, in Dallas Texas.
Mr. Melvin Ross was born February 11, 1953 in Alto, Texas to Bennie and Beatrice Reggie-Ross. After moving to Lufkin at an early age he attended Brandon, and then Garrett Elementary. He also attended Dunbar High School and graduated from Lufkin High School in 1971. Melvin was always known to be a hard worker and of kind nature. After graduating from high school, he moved to Dallas, Texas and went to work for Baylor Medical Center. He later went to work for the city of Dallas, where he remained until his retirement. Melvin received numerous awards and recognitions.
Outstanding employee of the year as well as safety awareness awards. He was known as 'snake' by his friends, because he took everything so easy and smooth. On Sunday morning he departed this life where his employment began, at Baylor Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Ross, sisters: Dorothy Ross-Wade, and Coline MarkWeathersby. Brothers: Billy Ross, and Terry Ross. Survivors include his brother: Johnnie and Belinda Ross of Lufkin, Texas. Danny Ross and Maori Nicely of Austin, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews, & other relatives and friends.
