Roger Goff's Obituary
Services for Roger Goff, 82, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Scarbrough St. Lufkin, TX. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till time of services at the church.
Roger Goff was born to the late Forrest Lacy and Adell Goff Smith in Fastrill, Texas, on December 29, 1935, and departed this earthly life on September 28, 2018 in Lufkin, Texas. Roger was raised in Diboll, Texas and graduated from H. G. Temple High School. He worked as a master level crane operator for over 45 years at Temple-Inland-Eastex and was affectionally known as "Arthur Temple's Man".
Roger became a member of First Missionary Baptist Church on January 4, 1995. He loved the Brotherhood Ministry and Male Chorus at his church. He deeply respected his Pastor, Rev. W.R. Ricks, Brother Roy C. Poole, and Brother Larry Green.
Roger leaves to cherish his memory: a loyal and devoted wife of over 35 years, Sylvia Jo Burley Goff; brothers, Waymon Lacy and Alonzo Goff; children, Mavis G. Jacobs, Ronald Goff,
Beverly G. Quinney, Roger L. Goff, Barbara V. Jones and Patricia Hubbard; ten grand-children, two great grand-children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Curtis Turner, Jr., Roy Lee Turner, and S. J. Lacy; sisters, Clara Douglas, and Mildred Smith; two aunts, and two grand-children.
