Yvette Nicole McVey, beloved mother, nannie, sister, and friend, passed on May 26, 2025, at the age of 54 in Lufkin, TX.
Born in Lufkin, Texas, to Doris J. McVey and James W;' Bennett Jr. on December 3, 1970.
Yvette better known as " Vette" or "Nikki" J graduated from Lufkin High School in 1989 and later raduated from Texas College with her Bachelor degree 'in business administration in 2011. Yvette orke for the State of Texas for over 13 years in Lufkini, Tyler and Austin, TX. After many years of working for the state, she decided to work more in the community where she worked for CAPCOG until 2024 and Foundations Community until er passin o.
Yvette had a deep faith in God, a love for her family, and a laugh that could lift your spirit on the hardest day. Yvette gave her life to Christ at an early age. As a child •she attended Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church of Lufkin. She later transferred her membership to New Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Cedric Kenebrew. After relocating to Tyler, Tx she became a member of Family of Faith Christian Church. In 2017, Yvette relocated to Austin where she became an online member of New Life Southeast under the leadership of Pastor John Hannah.
She is survived by her daughter; Amya McVey of Seattle, Washington, Stepson; Na'Qwentis Brooks of Fort Moore, Georgia, Two brothers; James R. Bennett and Michael Bennett (Christine) and three sisters; Tonya Cannon (Alan), Tami Dudo (Justin) and Vickie Perkins. She also leaves to cherish her God-Children; Ja'Lysa Sidney, Tyrah Mark, Maddox and Jayden Sidney, and countless uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Yvette was preceded in death by her mother Doris J. McVey and father James W. Bennett Jr., Grandparents Evarine McVey-Page, James W. Bennett Sr. and Jeannette Callahan Bennett.
Her legacy is one of love, resilience, service, and soul.
She ran her race with grace—and now she's at rests.
